Last-Minute Errands

I only spent a couple of minutes on Instagram and TikTok only to find myself scrolling with about 10 new places to visit around town as if to say I’m missing out to a great extent. Hey, my friends are everywhere and meanwhile, here I am, in the shadow of my bedroom; playing phantom issues in my head over and over again.

So obviously, I got up and went to a couple of Christmas lighting events with a friend in the city right before Christmas Day: The Christmas bazaar at the Museum of the Future, drone show at Bluewaters By Meraas Dubai and the night market and fireworks display at Dubai Festival City mall. A significant number of people makes me anxious but I managed to get thru after some good dinner. After all, an evening out with all that Christmas-y vibe, in fact, wasn’t that bad as I assumed. Don’t get me wrong, people like me exist though I ain’t a killjoy or a grouch — I just don’t want to be consumed by some crowd. Like I said, I got up, tried things and dude, IT. FELT. GOOD.

Last December 28th, we managed to squeeze an afternoon tour, Step Inside Burj Al Arab for about 2 hours. I’m telling you, the moneyed can patch any hues and patterns and would nonetheless be ultra-opulent from ALL perspectives.

Wealthy things huh.

Of course, a photo opt can never be missed.

Earlier today, we had an opportunity to visit the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library for about half a day, consuming every nuggets of knowledge while exploring. This is definitely my kind of niche.

The main lobby’s curved slatted wood ceiling — dramatic dude, and DOPE.

Touch of colors through the seating to probably create a visual interest or a “fun” focal point, perhaps.

To wrap up the day, we had a 10-minute boat ride at Al Fahidi Agra across Dubai Creek between Bur Dubai. How was it? Definitely safe and never better aside from the fact that the boat ride cost per head is less than a dollar.

Anyway, tomorrow is the last day of the year. This is the first time I’m staying home to welcome the new year. I had a good run though, I’ve been to a couple of historical, festive and cute places around town with tons and tons of people I brushed shoulder with and it’s fine. Teehee. By the way, I’ve travelled Bishkek last March of this year, 4 degrees wasn’t too cold, I realized!

To more exploring and I guess frequent blogging — Happy 2026, you guys!
