At The Top Part 1

Dubai is one of those iconic cities (and most populous city in the United Arab Emirates and capital of Emirate of Dubai) that seem to be in everybody’s travel bucket list now, because why not? When we talk about the culture, food and the breathtaking tourist spots, you’ll definitely fall in love just like how I have fallen in love with its grandiose town.

One of Dubai’s best tourist spot is the At The Top, Burj Kahlifa. At over 828 meters and more than 160 storeys, this tower has a special place in my heart simply because it’s my favorite architecture from how it was built to the tradition combined in the design. It is too much to explain in detail but you can find facts here.

As an Expat living in Dubai for a couple of years now, upon entering the vicinity I instantly had that get-lost-in-a-foreign-country feeling inside the tallest free-standing structure in the world. It feels like I’m travelling Dubai for the first time and it feels awesome to enter aisles and get information of the icon upon your way up to the spacious decks of 124th and 125th floors. Imagine our experience at 456 meters up in the air. How rousing is that? Add to the fact that I often look for dope ceilings in every place I explore – definitely Burj Khalifa did not disappoint. I had several photos featuring the ceiling and it felt like I will never run out of beautiful architecture and view of the ever growing skyline of Dubai to marvel while we explore and learn its avant-garde details.

If you have high-ceiling landing, this randomly assembled crystal chandelier creates a bold statement. If only I have a better camera, I could have gotten a better creative shot showing the skyline too. Though looking at my photos now, I think I did I great job using my iPhone. Visit this piece in person and see why I silently told myself,
“I’ve never beheld such sight”

The above metal ceiling pattern is an architectural element called mashrabiya that partially hides the services in the ceiling. I noticed that I captured three different colored illumination (green, blue and red). Right now, I’m not sure if it symbolizes the United Arab Emirates flag or has a technical explanation about the dimension of color – to which is a different topic. Whatever it is, I’m pretty pleased with the pleasant effect of the lighting on human skin color.

Anyway this is a 4-part blog entry or maybe 3 because I seriously got tons of photos and stories to tell. Oh by the way, I visited with my friends and we’re with visiting couple (who are super friendly and generous) in Dubai for the first time. We’re tourist guide for a day, actually.

That's all it for the first part. Please visit At The Top link I provided at the first part of this blog for more information.
