Umbrella Roof

A day from now January is over and it feels like the first day of the current leap year was just yesterday. How time flies when we’re still alive and can still change the world (as it has been in pain January 2020 alone) and carry out even the smallest but active steps to battle the never-ending adversities the world is facing.

Moving on, as I said time seems to move more quickly when I really didn’t think that these photos I found yesterday was taken 3 years ago already, December 2017 using just my phone’s camera. Really, doesn’t time fly? Time simply flew, despite of difficulties, when you’re truly enjoying it – taking photos of I personally think dope ceiling is just super fun. Now, Rotana Arjaan Dubai Media City’s assorted-color umbrella roof, roofing the atrium probably was the most dramatic ceiling that year (we celebrated New Year with them, at that time).

Column-free two-storey glass-roofed atrium designed with ultra-colorful umbrellas to somehow dispel summer heat gain and inertly cool the atrium was honestly not so unique these days, but very clever still especially when you have to combine it with the traditional Moorish-inspired architecture.

Ah, lovely.

If I’m not mistaken, these photos was taken a couple of days before the celebration to check the place out. And If I would be able to visit the mixed-use development located on Dubai’s Al Sufouh Road (adjacent to Jumeirah Beach and the Palm Island) again, I’ll check if these umbrellas are still hanging up there.
