“My age is still on the calendar!”
I remember that moment when Annie, my teacher playfully uttered that phrase when her co-teacher, Theresa teased her about her marrying age pertaining to the single and good-looking Paul, the tour guide of our school field trip. A vivid memory of mine looking at my teachers giggling while we were in the shuttle bus going to somewhere that’s supposed to be educational for us kids. Yes, that was during my elementary years. Imagine, adults talking stuff kids barely understand. Of course, kids do listen attentively to adults all the time. And apparently one of the core memory of my young divergent years is the topic about age and marrying age. How silly is that? By the way the names Annie, Theresa and Paul is purely made-up. Needless to say, I have forgotten their names. No argument there.
Anyway speaking of marrying age, today is my birthday and I’m not going to marry and/or start a family — I’m way too late for that, I think. And if I feel ready, I would be just grabbing anyone to get married right there and then. And I’m not even joking.
Here’s a statement of mine from my 2021 birthday blog:
Oh well, as they say, certain age meant certain things were supposed to achieve. But should we really need to be THAT someone at a certain age? That’s absolutely hard to tell. As birthdays pass, growing older is an inevitable part of life. We just need to learn to live and be happy in the moment because each moment is all we need regardless of who we are at that phase.
That’s it. Again, today is my birthday. I’m single and, yeah, successful in my own right at this very age. Below is place where my friends treated me for a fancy 5-star Asian dinner buffet at The Palm’s Taj Exotica Resort and Spa. No food photos though.
